Linda asks…

Can/ will smoking cigarettes temporarily help my anxiety ?

I’ve had very troublesome  anxiety for a while. Over five years. I’m eighteen. I’m in college. Live with a roommate. My anxiety and hypochondria is getting so bad. My panic attacks are becoming too much to handle. I’ve been taking celexa but it’s not really helping. All of this shit is driving me insane. My boyfriend smokes. It seems to calm him down very well. I’m not here to listen to how bad smoking is for you and blah blah blah I’m not planning on being a long term smoker, I’ve smoked before. I know what it’s like. What I’m asking is of anyone has anxiety and has smoking helped them? I just want something to help me get through this next semester and I would stop by summer. Please.. Any advice.

Binaural Beats answers:

Studies show smoking actually causes anxiety. It becomes a vicious circle because you become irritated and agitated without the cigarettes, they calm you down. But you become incredibly fidgety without them. They also promote depression. I used to smoke 2 packs a day. I have a very addictive personality and I would shake because I would chain smoke so much. I am very anxious like you. I have bipolar and adhd and have had panic attacks in the past. Many medications just don’t do anything for you. I recommend meditation, binaural beats, eft, tat, theanine (found in green tea, but is also in supplement form), gabba(also a supplement). All easy and safe. And the first 4 you can look up and do for free from the comfort of your home. I am not the first to advocate for medication, because it just isn’t safe. To have a healthy diet, and to take care of our body and mind in the proper way. In my opinion, is the best way to optimal health. Sometimes medication is necessary. I am still on a low dose of my bipolar medication. But if celexa isn’t working, you need to tell your doctor and try to find something that is at least slightly more effective in taking the edge off of your daily anxiety.

Ruth asks…

Can I listen to this? it says only people 18 and above can listen to it? I’m 16 but I just wanna make sure?

please, see the video first!

It’s Mozart Symphony 40 with brainwave entrainment [ if you don't know what it is don't bother answering please, I need serious answers . thank you ]

here’s someones comment on this vid on youtube:
he’s not saying that classical music itself is bad for the young mind. this particular? version that’s combined with brainwave entertainment tech is what could have negative affects on an undeveloped mind. it releases chemicals that alter mood and thought process. in other words it’d be like giving psychadelic drugs to your kids.

another comment:
brain wave entrainment affects the chemical production within the brain. ? It is therefore recommended that one waits until after puberty (and all the changes that takes place during it) before beginning to work with the technology.

I’m 16 , and I badly want to listen to it just to see if it would boost my IQ . but I’m afraid of the risks. If [ really ] only people 18 yrs. above can listen to it, and it really does chemicals that can harm undeveloped minds, then I wont listen to it.

Binaural Beats answers:

Go ahead and listen to it. The technology of “brainwave entrainment” is completely spurious. The idea that the brainwaves synchronise with special sounds of whatever kind, binaural beats or whatever, or that certain music generates chemicals, is total nonsense.
The only risk in listening to Mozart is that you might say “Wow, that was nice. I’d like to explore that sort of music”. It won’t boost your IQ, but it might add to the albums you listen to.

Donald asks…

what helps you sleep?

even when i’m deadbeat tired, i can’t fall asleep. right now it is 6:47 am where i live, and i haven’t slept a wink. this is a normal thing for me. i work afternoons/nights so this is not too bad. i’m going on 20 hours awake right now and i’ve tried going to sleep but i have so many thoughts rushing through my head. it’s nothing stressful either… just stupid stuff like what should i get at the grocery store tomorrow, or what do i want for breakfast, really really stupid stuff. i’m 28 and i’ve been like this for around the last 10 years. any tips on falling asleep? or do you know what’s wrong with me?

Binaural Beats answers:

I understand how it feels to be unable to fall asleep for I have been through it. In order for someone to fall asleep, we first have to feel relaxed and calm our mind. We can do this in several ways without taking pills:
- drink a glass of warm milk
- soak your feet in hot water
- listen to soft music
- do yoga or meditation
- read something boring

But the best solution for a peaceful sleep is binaural beats that will help your brain to get into the delta frequencies that symbolize the blissful period of sleep. Since the brain is slowly coaxed into that frequency, you’ll fall into a deep sleep naturally and wake up refreshed and energised.

Binaural Beats answers:

It could be SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) there are special lights you can get to simulate light you would get from the sun. Some reports I’ve been reading, people who take Vitamin D are saying that they have an increased sense of well-being, improved sleep patterns and even weight loss. These are all things I find are disrupted when you have SAD so if taking Vitamin D can help resolve these issues, I think that’s awesome.

Something I have been using is binaural beats – these sounds are amazing and can help you achieve more energy – better focus – more relaxed. I use them to start the day and really swear by them.

Failing High School…Life Advice?

I’m a 15 year old female in high school. I’m a freshman and I have changed so much since I started high school. I’m still the same person and hang around the same friends but I think I’m suddenly being really lazy. My GPA last year was a 3.8, 4 A’s and 2 B’s but now it’s a 2.1 and I’m failing at least in two classes. Some stuff are not entered in the grade book yet and it’s going to get worst. My mom figured out a couple of months ago that I had a D in math and she went ballistic, my grades since then have gotten worst. I’m a really smart girl and my teachers know that but I’m not proving it in my grades. I use to be really neat but now my room is junkyard. Also I have always had sleep problems (insomnia and sleep apnea), I usually get about 4 hours of sleep . I got less than 2 hours of sleep one time on a school night and I functioned perfectly normal during the day. I really hope this is just a stage and I will eventually grow out but I’m scared I won’t. This is definitely not like me. I want to change but I don’t really know how. I think I might have anxiety and maybe depression. Do I need help, professionally? They are my final grades and I can’t change them anymore. I do care about my grades and I’m scared of the day when my mom finds out, she is really strict. I love to read and I have high hopes for myself, I wish to become an anesthesiologist in the future. I don’t know how to get my old self back again, I think I need a break from life and I’m just tired of it. How do I tell her I need help? What can I do about my grades? How do I change?
